Favorite Things: Brunch Edition
What a week (and it’s only Wednesday!). As you may have seen in our Instagram stories, we have been busy little elves packing up lots of Christmas goodies for our customers. But we wanted to take a quick break to continue our Favorite Things theme and share some local love for the best meal of the day - BRUNCH. Each treat pictured below is guaranteed to be a hit at your holiday table.
First up - buttered croissants from The Essential. This new restaurant on Morris Avenue has everything we loved about Feast & Forest (like the pastries!), along with some truly special lunch and dinner offerings. The ham & cheese or chocolate varieties are not to be missed, but you really can’t beat the simple perfection of Kristen Hall’s homemade croissant.
Next, we have Everything Bagels from Crestline Bagel Co. We love them with their plain or veggie cream cheese, and piled high with thinly sliced smoked salmon. It’s an easy (and delicious) everyday breakfast, but also makes a beautiful spread for a festive brunch.
We've never met a biscuit we didn't like (give us all the fluffy buttermilk), but we especially love the spelt flour biscuits from Alabama Biscuit Co. Our favorite toppings for their plain biscuit include Strawberry Fig preserves from Fig & Fern Flowers, or the Jalapeno Honey from Garden Honey Bee.
To round things out, we added some creamy brie, salty prosciutto, and smoky Conecuh sausage. This is one brunch board that we would be happy to graze on any day of the year, but especially during this special season.
